Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This describes what information Doo Defense collects, why, and who it's shared with. Signing up for an account means you've read and accepted this policy.

What we collect

If you join the waiting list because we do not reach your street yet: your name, email and address, kept only so we can tell you when we do, and removed if you ask.

When you sign up: your name, email, phone number, service address, and your dogs' names/breeds. As you type your address we show suggestions using Google's Places service, and we convert the address you pick into map coordinates using Google's Geocoding service, so we can route technicians efficiently. Google receives the address text for this and handles it under its own privacy policy; it does not receive your name, phone number, or payment details. Payment details are collected and stored directly by Stripe, our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number. If you contact us or leave notes for your technician, we keep that too.

We also keep a few things you give us along the way: how you heard about us, if you tell us; the rating and any written feedback you leave after a visit; the reason you give if you cancel; and — when you tick the box agreeing to receive service texts — the date, the exact wording you agreed to, and the IP address the agreement came from. That last one exists so we can show what you agreed to if it is ever questioned, and is used for nothing else.

Cookies and measurement. We set two cookies of our own. One keeps you signed in. The other is a random number, kept for two years, that lets us count one person visiting three pages as one person rather than three. While you are only browsing, it is not connected to your name and we have no way to work out who it belongs to. If you go on to sign up and pay, that random number is recorded alongside your customer record, so we can see that the visit and the signup were the same person — from that point it is connected to you. Deleting your account disconnects it again.

We also measure how far people get through signing up — which step they reached, and which question stopped them — so we can see where the form is confusing. That measurement records the step, never what you typed into it.

That measurement goes nowhere but our own database. We do not send it to Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, or any other advertising company, and no advertising company sets a cookie on this site. If we ever start advertising and that changes, we will update this page before it does, not after.

How we use it

To schedule and route your visits, bill your plan, text you visit updates (once SMS is enabled), respond to support requests, and improve how we assign and balance technician routes. We don't sell your information, and we do not use it to advertise to you anywhere.

Who we share it with

Only the services that make Doo Defense work: Stripe (payments), Supabase (our database, file storage and account infrastructure), Google (address suggestions and address-to-map-coordinates lookup, address only), the U.S. Census Bureau's public geocoder (a fallback used only when Google returns no result, address only), Vercel (website hosting), Cloudflare (the “are you a robot” check on the signup and login forms, which sees your IP address and some basic details about your browser), OpenStreetMap (the map tiles on our coverage and tracking maps, which sees your IP address when a map loads), the U.S. National Weather Service (your home's map coordinates, so we can check the forecast for your service day), and Twilio (text message delivery, once configured). Each only receives what it needs to do its part — the address lookups only ever see your address, never your name or payment details. Beyond these, we don't share your information — except where the law requires it, or where we have to in order to protect someone's safety or defend a claim. If the business is ever sold, customer records would transfer with it, and we would say so here first.

Location data

If you're a technician, your live location is only shared while you've actively turned on location sharing for your route, and only visible to customers with a stop scheduled that day. That live position isn't kept — only the most recent one is stored, and it turns off the moment you stop sharing.

One position is kept: where you were when you marked a visit complete, and how far that was from the customer's address. It is recorded on that visit and kept with it, so there is a record that somebody was at the property — which protects the technician as much as the customer if a visit is ever disputed. If the phone can't get a location, the visit is completed anyway and nothing is stored.

Photos

Three kinds of photo may exist on your account: one you upload yourself to show us your yard or gate, one you attach when reporting a spot we missed, and one your technician takes after a cleanup as proof the visit was done. They are stored privately in our file storage — never in a public folder — and are only viewable through short-lived links we generate for you, your technician, and the owner. Nobody else can open them, and they are not used for advertising or shared with anyone.

Visit photos and missed-spot photos are deleted automatically one year after they are taken. The yard or gate photo you upload yourself is different — it is a reference your technician needs every visit, so we keep it until you replace it or remove it, which you can do from your dashboard at any time. Removing it deletes the file, not just the link to it. You can also ask us to remove any photo sooner.

Gate codes and service notes

We ask you for gate codes and access instructions because your technician needs them to get in. They are stored with your account and shown only to the technician assigned to your visit and to the owner. They are not shared with anyone else and are deleted with the rest of your account. If you would rather not store a code, leave it out and describe the access another way, or unlock the gate on your service day.

How we keep it safe

The site runs over an encrypted connection, your password is stored only as a scrambled value that we cannot read, and payment details never reach our systems at all — Stripe holds those. Photos sit in private storage that is not browsable, reachable only through short-lived links. Access to customer records is limited to the owner and, for their own stops, the technician assigned to them. We also use a bot check on the signup and login forms to keep automated attacks out.

No system is perfect. If your information is ever taken in a way that could put you at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as required by Florida law, without unreasonable delay.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and visit history for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after cancellation for our own records (billing history, service records). Visit and missed-spot photos are deleted automatically one year after they are taken; the yard photo you upload is kept until you remove it. Billing records are kept longer where tax and accounting rules require it. Records of your agreement to receive texts are kept for as long as we may need to evidence it. You can request deletion at any time — see below.

Your choices

From your account, you can manage your dogs, service notes, visit frequency, your yard photo, and your plan status (pause, resume, or cancel) at any time. Email us to change your name, phone number, email address or service address, to ask for a copy of what we hold, or to have your account deleted — we aim to reply within 3 business days and to finish the request within 30 days. Changing an address means re-checking it against our service area, so that one is done by hand rather than from your dashboard.

Deleting your account removes your details, your visit history and your photos. Some things necessarily survive it: Stripe keeps its own record of payments because tax and accounting rules require it, and any message you sent us through the contact form stays in our inbox unless you ask us to remove that too.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let existing customers know.
