Accessibility

We want anyone to be able to book a cleanup, whatever they use to get online. A lot of our customers are older, and plenty of them use bigger text, a screen reader, or a keyboard instead of a mouse. This page says what we do about that, and how to tell us when something is wrong.

What we aim for

We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard most commonly used to judge whether a website is usable by people with disabilities.

What we do

  • We check our pages against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 with automated testing tools, and fix what they find before it goes live.
  • We also test by hand with a screen reader and with the keyboard only, because automated tools catch roughly a third of what matters and none of whether a page actually makes sense out loud.
  • The site can be used without a mouse, and it works with your browser or phone zoomed in to 200%, so you can make everything bigger with the controls you already use. Customers can also set a text size in their account settings, which is remembered.
  • Colours are checked for contrast in both light and dark mode, and nothing important is shown by colour alone.

Telling us about a problem

If any part of this site is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us — it is the fastest way for it to get fixed, and we would genuinely rather know.

Use our contact form and choose “I'm having trouble using this website”, or email us directly at doodefense@gmail.com.

It helps if you can say what page you were on and what you were trying to do, but do not worry if not — tell us in whatever way is easiest and we will work it out.

We read every message and will get back to you as quickly as we can. If something is stopping you booking a cleanup, phone or email us and we will simply set it up for you over the phone rather than making you wait for a fix.
